A resident of Pumpkin Center, he died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was 81, a resident of Pumpkin Center and a native of Burkeville, Texas. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting on Friday in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. Randy Davis. Interment in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery, Pumpkin Center. He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Smith Coplin of Pumpkin Center; daughter, Denise Beck of Ponchatoula; son, Tom W. Coplin of Hammond; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Plagens of Bridge City, Texas, and Maggie Yates of Vidor, Texas; and brother, Leon Coplin of Groves, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Myra Brooks Coplin; granddaughter, Tracie Dewhirst; brother, Neil Coplin; and sister, Pauline West. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Pumpkin Center, VFW Post 3652 in Hammond and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. ***************************************************************************
