A former resident of Hammond and a retired teacher, she died at St. James Place on Monday, Sept. 11, 2000. She was 92. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Visitation at Dunham Chapel, First Presbyterian Church, from 9 a.m. Friday until religious services at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Garnett Slatton. Burial in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Miss., at 2 p.m. Friday. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, Miss., and obtained a master of arts degree from Columbia University, New York City. She taught high school English and speech in Canton, Miss., Vicksburg, Miss., and Hammond and also taught at Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, ACWW, life master of the American Bridge League and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucy Ellen and Bill Ray, Humble, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Belinda Corder, Baton Rouge; two grandsons, Charles Corder IV, Baton Rouge; and William Ray, Houston; and a sister, Mary Ellen Pope, Columbus.
