He was a native of Independence, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Hammond. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Campise Costa, Loranger; daughter, Janet Quarles, Hammond; two sons, Angelo "Sonny" Costa Jr., Loranger, Raymond Costa, Hammond; three sisters, Rose Giavatello, New Orleans, Frances DiMaggio, Tickfaw, Patricia Ann Vial, Picayune; brother, Joe Costa, Hammond; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Sam and Tony Costa, preceded him in death. He was born on Thursday, Oct. 4, 1923, in Independence. Mr. Costa was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Bobbie J. Thames Costa, of Independence; four daughters and sons-in- law, Barbara and David St. Cyr, of Hammond, Betty and Anthony Prescia, and JoAnn and Vincent Lato, all of Independence, and Thelma and Doug Wallace, of Tickfaw; two sons, C. J. Costa and Charles Gill, both of Independence; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Costa Morgan, of Independence. Preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Piazza Costa and John Carlo Costa. He was 72 and a native of Independence. He was a Regular Army veteran of the Korean War, having served three years, and was discharged as a staff sergeant.
