She was born on November 1, 1935 in Bogalusa, daughter of the late Cecil A. and Picola Jenkins Cox. Surviving are her husband, Jack Jacob Cothern; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgiana and Paul Peterson; son, Keith Cothern and partner, Trent Williams; sister, Loretta Standsberry; granddaughter, Nicole Brookes; 2 grandsons, Jacob Peterson and Jack Cothern; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Pitre; 2 grandchildren, Brian Pitre and Berdth Cheramie, III; and 3 brothers..
