He was born on Wednesday, January 24, 1940, in Ponchatoula, son of the late Manuel R. Coumes and Irma A. Ferry Coumes. He was an ordained Deacon at Midway Baptist Church for 45 years. He was an industrial operator. Surviving are his wife, Linda Prevost; two daughters, Crystal Edgerton, and Keelie Madona; son, Gene D. Coumes; two sisters, Janice Hyde, and Pat Fuscia; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Wednesday, July 26, 2006, visitation will continue at Midway Baptist Church - 42111 Firetower Road in Ponchatoula from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m., with Rev. She worked for local doctors and ended her career at the Ponchatoula Clinic working for Dr. Collins Lipscomb. She was a former member of Ponchatoula Artisans and The Mail Car Art Gallery. She was a member of Bedico Baptist Church where she provided flowers for the sanctuary. Survivors include two daughters, Janice Hyde of Robert and Pat Fuscia of Ponchatoula; one son, Gene Coumes of Ponchatoula; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Coumes. Visitation will be today at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the Rev. Leo Miller and the Rev. James Wall conduct the funeral at 10. In lieu of flowers, Gideon placed Bibles may be given in her memory, P.O.
