COUPEL, GECILE TEMPLET 
A loving mother who enjoyed her gardening, dancing, country music and
sewing, she always cared for the sick and disadvantaged. A native of
Klotzville, she died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Clare
Manor in Baton Rouge, where she had resided for six years. She was 79, a
former resident of Belle Rose for 21 years and a former longtime resident
of Plaquemine. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Friday, May
5, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting
at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brusly, on Saturday from 9 a.m.
until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Matt
Dupre. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. She is survived by three daughters
and sons-in-law, Lois and Warren Dugas of Belle Rose, Helen and James
Devillier of Brusly, and Estelle and Lloyd Blanchard Jr. of Napoleonville;
three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alvin and Loretta LaBauve Coupel of
Port Allen, Irving and Donna LaBauve Coupel of Brusly, and Bruce Coupel of
St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge; sister, Therese Marretta of Tickfaw;
brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Margie Brister Templet of Walker;
eight grandchildren, Koren Elizabeth Devillier Lawes and husband Robert of
Thibodaux, Thomas Claude Devillier and fiancée Julia White of Monroe, Jed
Anthony Devillier of Bangor, Wash., Ricky Joseph Coupel and wife Allison of
Port Allen, Marcie Anne Coupel of Baton Rouge, Jason Michael Rousseau and
wife Lori of Humble, Texas, and David Anthony Rousseau and wife Jamie and
Jeannie Lynn Elizabeth Rousseau, all of Napoleonville; eight great-
grandchildren, Madeline and Lauren Lawes of Thibodaux, Jazmine Rousseau and
Austin Gauthreaux of Napoleonville, Steven and Lexi Rousseau and Tyler
Riden, all of Humble, and Grant Coupel of Port Allen; and extended family
members, Phyllis Dugas Chapman of Baton Rouge, and her son and
daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dorothy Dugas, and their children, Abigail and
Benjamin Dugas, of Orlando. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Claude H. Coupel; parents, Joseph and Eugenie Coupel Templet; brother, Jean
Templet; grandchild, Steven H. Blanchard; and two loving companions, Gus
Himel and Sammy Bergeron. She was a longstanding member of the Assumption
Homemakers' Council, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 2052, and St.
Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose. She served as chairperson of the
nursing home bingo in Napoleonville for 15 years, and she organized and
traveled on many Assumption Parish Senior Citizens' bus trips. She enjoyed
going dancing with her friends at the Bon Chance. The family wishes to
sincerely thank the administration and staff of St. Clare Manor and St.
Joseph Hospice for their genuine care and compassion extended to Cecile,
her son, Bruce, and the entire family. Memorial donations may be made to
