All my worldly possessions I have left to family and friends. I take only my faith in God." Born in Amite City shortly after midnight on Jan. 1, 1920, Audrey Daniel Courtney was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. A seamstress well-known throughout the area for her custom-made slipcovers and bedspreads, she operated her own business in the capital city for more than 40 years. She passed away at her home, surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at 10:10 a.m. after a lengthy and courageous bout with cancer. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Courtney and wife Susann of Las Vegas, and Bob Courtney and wife Beth of Baton Rouge; a stepson, Edwin Courtney and wife Jean of Amite; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Courtney is also survived by her sisters, Jackie Berger of Baton Rouge and Margaret Ann Wilson of Shreveport; and brother, Edwin Daniels of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, James F. Courtney, who was of Baton Rouge; brothers, Norris Daniel, who was of Amite, and Maxwell Daniel; and a sister Joyce Hollingsworth, who was of Baton Rouge; stepson, James N. Courtney, who was of San Antonio; and grandsons, Gary Courtney, who was of San Antonio and Collin Courtney, who was of Beaumont. "Miss Audrey," as she was affectionately known to all, leaves behind dear friends including her best and longtime companion, Emmitt Dunington of Baton Rouge. She was active in many community volunteer programs and is credited with founding the deaf ministry at Istrouma Baptist Church. He was born on January 6, 1944, in Lake Charles, son of the late Edwin Allen and Olivia Blackwell Courtney. Mr. Harold was a wonderful husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, best of brother, dear son and admired coach. A faithfully committed member at the Mission Church and humble servant, he lived a life of selflessness, always putting others first. He enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying the outdoors and wildlife. Mr. Courtney was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. For many years he coached Dixie Boys, Dixie Youth, Dixie Majors and Little Conference Football. He was also one of the founding fathers of the Tangipahoa Association of Bass Anglers.
