Kirby J. Couvillion died on March 4, 2007. He was 85-years-old. He was a native of Marksville, La., and a former resident of Jefferson, and a resident of Tickfaw. Beloved husband of Ila Carmouche Couvillion of Tickfaw, La. Father of Fred Couvillion of Georgia and Peggy Miller of Texas. Father-in-law of Don Miller of Texas and Fred Fanning. Brother of Della C. Normand. Also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great-grand- children and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Albia and Naomi D. Couvillion, six brothers, five sisters, three children; Darryl Lachney, Davis Couvillion and Ella Fanning, grandson, Fred Couvillion Jr. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, 1600 N. Causeway on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 1 p.m. Visitation begins Wednesday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 10/30/2000 COUVILLION, LEAH RICHE Baton Rouge - Leah Riche Couvillion, 86, a homemaker and native of Simmesport, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at St. Clare Manor. She was a former member of Ladies Altar Society of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church. Survivors include five daughters, Elaine Hughes, Baton Rouge, Carmen Marionneaux, St. Francisville, Sister Leah Marie (Elsie) Couvillion, S.S.N.D., Lahore, Pakistan, Janie Babin, Beaumont, Texas, and Linda Moore, Hammond; two brothers, Herbert Riche, Simmesport, Huey Riche, Minden; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Lester E. Couvillion; two sisters, Lily and Rita; and four brothers, Allen, Percy, Milburn and Wiltz, preceded her in death. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, tonight from 5 to 8 and Tuesday at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral at 10:30. The Rev. Maynard Hurst will conduct the service, and burial will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 5/10/2005 COUVILLION, WATERS EDWARD "ED" Waters Edward Couvillion died at his Baton Rouge home Saturday, May 7, 2005, after a long illness. He was 85. He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Alexandria, attended primary and secondary schools in Shreveport, and for 35 years was a resident of Dallas. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in France and Germany. He retired from Allen Manufacturing Co. of Hartford, Conn., where he was a manufacturer's representative and Southwest district manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Foster Couvillion and Eloise Waters Couvillion; his sister, Florence Couvillion Milner; and his brother, James Ernest Couvillion. He is survived by his wife, Louise Cobb Couvillion; his nephew, Charles Couvillion of Peoria, Ariz.; his nieces, Cynthia Couvillion of Christmas, Fla., Cathy Eiland of Hammond, and Constance Haydel of Covington; and stepson, James Cobb of Charlottesville, Va. The family will receive visitors at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 10, from 11 a.m. until funeral Mass at noon. Pallbearers will be Benton Preslar, Michael Haydel, Jeff Eiland, David Roach, Austin Cobb and Robert Cancienne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Aloysius Catholic Church or the Baton Rouge Habitat for Humanity.
