She was born on May 16, 1928, in Winnsboro, daughter of the late Barney Temple and the late Mattie Reeves Temple. Mrs. Cruse retired from Earl K. Long Medical Center as a nursešs aid after 25 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grand- mother. Surviving are her son & daughter-in-law, Ray and Cindy Cruse; 3 grandsons, Jacob and wife Cassie Cruse, Christopher and wife Amber Cruse, and Matthew Cruse; great-granddaughter, Jenna Cruse; and sister, Lula Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernie P. Cruse; son, Garland Housley; 2 brothers, Bob and Bill Temple; 2 sisters, Lilly Hammons and Lela "Pete" Temple. Friends will be received Sunday, June 20, 2010, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 8:00 am until the funeral service at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the Housley Cemetery in Montpelier. He was 75 and a native of Winnsboro. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Visitation was at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment in Houseley Cemetery, St. Helena Parish. Survived by a son, Vernie Ray Cruse, Amite; and three grandchildren.
