CRUZ, JOAN CARROLL 
Joan Carroll Cruz, OCDS, 81 years old of Ponchatoula, La., passed away, 
Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La., she 
passed away surrounded by her family and in the loving embrace of the 
church. She was born on Thursday, Sept. 10, 1931, in New Orleans, La., of 
the late Daniel Carroll Sr. and the late Josephine Carroll Saremva. She is 
a native of New Orleans, La., and after the catastrophe of Hurricane 
Katrina moved to Ponchatoula, La. Mrs. Cruz is an alumnus of St. Mary of 
the Pines in Chatawa, MS, taught by the School Sister's of Notre Dame.
Also a member of the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order for 50 years.
Mrs. Cruz is also the author of over 15 Catholic Books all with Imprimatur. 
She is a recipient of the Mother Teresa Award in 2005. Mrs. Cruz is leaving 
behind her husband of over 58 years Louis Edgar Cruz, sons, Louis E. Cruz 
Jr. and Thomas M. Cruz, daughters, Jeannine M. Cruz and Carolyn Cruz Marsh 
VanBrunt and son-in-law Raymond "Bill" VanBrunt. Brother Daniel J. Carroll 
Jr. and sister-in-law Betty H. Carroll. Also two loving devoted friends 
Terri L. Tillis and Irna M. Blazio both of whom she loved dearly and 
considered her daughters. She is preceded in death by her son Michael David 
Cruz, brother, Kenneth E. Carroll and sister, Elba Carroll Moore. Friends 
will be received Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. 
Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. Mass will be held at St. Joseph 
Catholic Church, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Fth. Cayet OP. 
officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum

CRUZ, MICHAEL DAVID
Michael David Cruz, 48 years old, died on Monday, March 29, 2010 at North
Oaks Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. Michael bravely and
patiently suffered from Multiple Myeloma and diabetes, and succumbed of
many complications after four years.  He was formerly of New Orleans, but
became a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. Son of
Louis E. Cruz, Sr. and Joan Carroll Cruz. Brother of Louis E. Cruz, Jr.,
Thomas (Tommy) Cruz, Jeannine Marie Cruz and Carolyn Marie Cruz Marsh.  A
funeral Mass was offered Holy Thursday in the chapel of Holy Ghost Catholic
Church by Rev. Hank Groover, O.P. Burial was in the mausoleum of Rose
Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.  An on-line guest book is available at
