With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to restŠ God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best. Funeral services for Mrs. Claudia "Maw" Cummings will be held on Monday, March 31, at 3 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Lewisburg with the interment in St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff DeBlanc will conduct the services. Mrs. Cummings, age 85, a resident of Greenwell Springs, died at her residence on Friday, March 28, 2008. She was one of the first female managers of Burger King and retired after 27 years of service. A special thanks to Ms. Ivy, Shelly and Alicia of Hospice of His Care for taking such good care of our mom. Donations may be made to Hospice of His Care. Claudia Cummings is survived by her son, John Dale Cummings and his wife, Jill, of Southlake, Texas; a daughter, Dianne Bertone and her husband, Sam, of Greenwell Springs; and two brothers, Louis and Ferdie Latiolais, both of Church Point. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Sean Ricard and his wife, Jennifer, of Denham Springs, Joey Bertone and his wife, Nicole, of Hammond, Chary Peacock, of Pensacola, Fla., Jennifer Cummings and her fiancé, Scott Macynski, of Bossier City and Lauren Cummings, of Baton Rouge; and seven great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Reagan Ricard, Jackson Bertone, Taylor and Ethan Peacock and Christabella and Tristan Cummings-Macynski. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edwin Cummings; her parents, Atinis and Azalie Guidry Latiolais; brothers, Herbert and Earvin Latiolais; and sister, Lorraine Andrus. The pallbearers will be Joey Bertone, Sean Ricard, Morgan Latiolais, Tyler Latiolais, Tommy Latiolais, Trent Boudreaux, Mitch Mathieu and Brock Latiolais. The family has requested that visitation be observed at the funeral home on Sunday, March 30, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
