"SHORTY" A longtime resident of Independence, David, 51, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at his home. He was employed as an estimator for Performance Contractors. He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Karen Dalton; daughter, Rochelle Dalton; along with his adorable grandson, Ian Nicholas Garner. He is also survived by his siblings, Don Dalton and wife Janet, Ruth Potter and husband Ray, Larry Dalton and wife Marge, and Forrest Lee Dalton and wife Rebecca; mother-in-law, Pearl Evans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding David in death were his son, David Brian Dalton Jr.; brother, Ronald Dalton; and parents, George and Della Dalton. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services from Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate the services. David Brian "Shorty" Dalton, Jr. was born on July 23, 1986 in Hammond, LA and died on April 27, 2008 in Independence, LA. He was a boilermaker. Mr. Dalton is survived by his parents, David B. Dalton, Sr. and Karen Evans Dalton of Independence; sister, Rochelle Dalton Garner and her husband, Nick of Tickfaw; nephew, Ian Garner of Tickfaw; grandmother, Pearl Allen Evans of Independence and many other relatives and friends.
