A retired deputy with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office, he was a member of the Prince Hall Mason Precious Jewel Lodge 108 and a founder, deacon and Sunday School superintendent at First True Love World Outreach Ministries. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Daniel of Hammond; four daughters, Cynthia Ford and Bernice Benjamin, both of Ponchatoula, Monica Morgan of Metairie and Kim Williams of Gonzales; five sons, Marvin Daniels of Oceanside, Calif., Alfred Greely of Natalbany, Sebyron Daniels of LaPlace, Andre Johnson of Ringold, Ga., and Leslie Ard of Baker; four sisters, Stella Hanible, Gloria Johnson and Gladys Callahan, all of Ponchatoula, and Ruth McGee of Springfield; 35 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. His mother, Lillie Carter Johnson; and his father, Dan Daniel; one son; and his stepfather, Frank Giddings, preceded him in death. Visitation will be Friday at First True Love World Outreach Ministries, Ponchatoula, from 5 p.m. until the funeral at 8. The Rev. Carl Coleman will officiate. Dismissal will be Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Holly Gardens Cemetery. He was a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 16 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday at First Baptist church in Baton Rouge. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial cemetery in Baton Rouge. He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Ronald A. Coco and Mrs. M. C. Young of Baton Rouge, Mrs. George Womack of Lafayette, and Mrs. M J. Daigle of Hammond; two sons, Joyce R. and A. Dale Daniel of Baton Rouge; three brothers, M. O. Daniel of St. Francisville and Dr. J. M. and John I. Philippians 4:8. A wonderful lady of Watson, she went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was 70, born Sept. 14, 1938, in Quitman, Ark., to the late Dillard and Goldie Hargett Jones. A faithful servant of Jesus, she was baptized in His Name and received His Spirit while in her youth. Church was the highlight of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Tommy Daniel; three children, Sherry Soley and husband Gary, of Hammond, Karen Jean Daniel, of St. Gabriel, and Thomas J. Daniel V and wife Rhonda, of Auburn Hills, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Sgt. Charles "Chad" Fritz Jr., Christy Michelle Fritz, Zachary Sandlin Jr., Benjamin Sandlin, Jeremy Sandlin, Lauren Soley, Breanna Daniel and Joshua Daniel; four great- grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Glover and husband Neal; sisters-in-law, Dianna Jeffers and husband James, and Sandra Dudley and husband Larry; brother-in-law, Buddy Daniel and wife Barbara; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chad Fritz, Zachary Sandlin Jr., Benjamin Sandlin, Jeremy Sandlin, Jimmy Jeffers, Kenny Jeffers and Donny Dudley. Viewing at Apostolic Church of Jesus, 8036 Lockhart Road, Denham Springs, where she was a faithful member for 42 years, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, was from 5 p.m. until special remembrance service from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Viewing resumes at the church on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Drew Ritchey. Interment in Memorial Cemetery, Denham Springs. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who offered their care, concern and prayers. A special thanks to Dianna Jeffers for the loving, compassionate care she gave.
