Died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mandeville. He was 84 and a native and a resident of Independence. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Paul McDuffie. Entombment in Colonial Mausoleum, Independence. He is survived by a son, Emile J. "Chic" Danna Jr., Folsom; four grandchildren; six great-grand- children; and a sister, Bessie Giannobile, Hammond. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Anzalone Danna; daughter, Cheryl Danna Person; parents, Angelo and Isabelle Currier D'Anna; a brother, Joe D'Anna; and a sister, Vennera Calandro. He was a U.S. Navy chief pharmacist mate during World War II. He received a bachelor's degree from Southeastern College in agriculture. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and member of Independence Lions Club, American Legion and Independence Italian-American Cultural Association.
