Mr. Davidson was a loved and respected member of the north Tangipahoa Parish community. He was known as a loyal, generous and forthright friend whose word was his bond. Mr. Davidson often used the twinkle in his eye and his quick wit to make others laugh. . His dimples would always give away that he was joking. Mr. Davidson was born November 27, 1917 at the home of his parents, Andrew and Addie (Hyde) Davidson in Chesbrough, LA on land originally settled by the Hydes. Life in the area at that time was difficult, especially as the depression grew closer. As a child, he left school early to help his parents. He worked long and hard hours with an attitude of appreciation for the opportunity. During the Depression he worked as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Kentwood. As a young man, Mr. Davidson met and married Miss Ruby Farmer in her first year of teaching at Chesbrough School. She said she was impressed by the way he lovingly cared for his mother and knew he would always treat her well. They were happily married for nearly 60 years until her death in 1998. Soon, Mr. Davidson felt compelled to leave his wife and young daughters, Betty and Naomi to do his part in World War II. He gave up an occupational deferment from the draft because of essential employment to enlist and deployed to the Pacific Theater in 1945. Peace was declared while he was being transported. He was stationed in Korea and tasked with processing Japanese prisoners. Upon returning home from the war, Mr. Davidson operated his own small diary farm in Arcola and began a career as a maintenance supervisor for the Tangipahoa Parrish Schools. It is through this position that he quietly blessed many children. If he noticed a child needed shoes or school supplies he would slip them into their locker or desk at night with none being the wiser. Mr. Davidson was an active member of Chesbrough Baptist Church. He helped to build the current Church and served as a deacon until his health declined. The Davidson family grew with the birth of twin sons; Orin Terry and Thomas Jerry. On the day of their birth, Mr. Davidson rushed from the hospital to call his mother and sister Willie to proudly announce the birth of a son. Upon his return to the hospital, he learned another son had been born in his absence. Again he rushed to call and share the good news. Knowing him to be a jokester, they declined to believe him until he apologized for having to hang up because he needed to rush back and see if there were any more. Raising his family was very important to Mr. Davidson. He aspired to raise children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who would be productive citizens and reflect GodŐs love. He told them what they needed to hear in no uncertain terms while at the same time letting them know they were loved and he believed in them. Mr. Orin is survived by his 2 daughters; Betty D. Oliver and husband, Sergio, Olney, Maryland and Naomi D. Tolar and husband, James C. "Jimmy" , Kentwood; a son, Orin Terry Davidson and wife, Barbara Hyde, Baker; grandchildren, Miguel Oliver, Ann Oliver Gruse and husband, Greg, Susan Oliver Estes and husband, Ron, Stacey Oliver Sarris, Audrey Elaine Doucette and husband, Robert, James Russell Tolar, Jeffery Scott Tolar and wife Amy, Tom Tolar and wife, Stacey, Loree Ann Davidson, Orin Jeremiah Davidson and Terry Joshua Davidson; great grand- children, Courtney Oliver, Sarah Oliver, Gregory Gruse, Rudy Gruse, Brent Estes, Laura Estes, Grace Estes, Danielle Doucette, Brandon Doucette, Dawson Tolar, Micah Tolar, Autumn Tolar, Seth Tolar and Darbi Tolar.
