She was 96. Visitation at the New Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. Leroy Taylor, pastor, 126 East St., Denham Springs, on Monday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Bishop James Reed. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by two devoted children, Richard and his wife, Lois Deemer and Betty and her husband, Matthew Jackson, with whom she resided; eight grandchildren, Milton Jackson, Twyler Williams, the Rev. Joya Hall and her husband, Pastor Ranches Hall, and Marilyn Johnson, all of Denham Springs, Vernon and his wife, Cynthia Deemer, Tyler Town, Miss., Kathy Smith, Lisle, Ill., Jeanne Griffin and Gary and his wife, Shawanda Deemer, all of Baton Rouge; 19 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great-grandchildren, three great-great-great-grandchildren, two sisters- in-law, Mary Deemer Carter, Ponchatoula, and Hazel Deemer, Kenner; a goddaughter, Debra Dillard Branch, Baton Rouge; children she loved as her grandchildren, Drexel Jr. and Kayla Robinson, both of Denham Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately loved her and called her Aunt Carrie. Sister Deemer was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Deemer; parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Charity Ealy; five sisters, three brothers, a granddaughter, Janet Marie Jackson; and a great-grandson, Jared Okafor. ***************************************************************************
