DeKERELEGAND, MARGARET PAINTING McKINNEY
Margaret Painting McKinney DeKerlegand, 89 years old, of Hammond, passed 
away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at her residence surrounded by her loving
family. She was born on Monday, June 26, 1922, in Holden. Mrs. DeKerlegand 
was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hammond. Surviving are her two 
sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry D. and Sherry Howard McKinney and Troy A. 
and Pamela Robertson McKinney; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George T. McKinney; second
husband, Harry A. DeKerlegand; parents, Geneva L. Calmes and William W. 
Painting; daughter, Peggy J. McKinney Shaffer; seven brothers and sisters, 
Cecil C. Painting, Evelyn R. Matthews, Gladys N. Fendalson, Glynn A. 
Painting, John W. Painting, Oleta A. Morse and Ruby I. Jones. Friends will 
be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Saturday, Nov. 
19, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home 
chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond. The 
family would like to thank Cindy Starkey Pierce, caregiver and grand-
