Funeral services for Mrs. Alice P. Demars, 70, who died Monday in Baton Rouge, were held Tuesday from the family residence. She is survived by two sons, McKinley Demars of Hammond and F. J. Floyd A. DeMars Sr., 83, born May 1, 1927, in Pumpkin Center, passed away in Central on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010. He was a member of Asbestos Workers Local 53, the American Legion and Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran, having enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve on his 17th birthday. He was awarded service medals while in the Naval Reserve: USN/USMC Combat Action Commemorative, Navy Commemorative, World War II Victory Medal, Asia Pacific Victory Medal, Honorable Service Medal, Combat Service Medal and Overseas Service Medal. He was commander of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Flotilla and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Reserve.
