He was born Monday, Dec. 11, 1944, in Magee, Miss., son of Dewey Dennis and the late Edna Jones Dennis. Surviving are his wife, Ollie Dennis; three sons, Michael, Gary and Mark Dennis; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Foster; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry, Tony and Gary; and six sisters, Alice, Angela, Joyce, Charlotte, Sara and Eva Mae. He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny; and his sister, Evelyn Jean. Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Sunday, May 7, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Monday, May 8, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. officiated by the Rev. He was a native of Elmore County, Ala., and a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was retired from Uniroyal. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a bee keeper. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Harris Dennis; two daughters, Linda Tittle, Houston, and Sue Schoonhoven, Beulah, Ala.; one son, the Rev. Gary Dennis, Ponchatoula; two sisters, Flo Burroughs, Tunnel Hill, Ga., and Eunice McDaniel, Auburn, Ala.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frederick's Funeral Home in Opelika, Ala. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Gene Aldridge, the Rev.
