She was 57, a native of Bogalusa and a resident of Independence. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Religious service at Kentwood Missionary Baptist Church, Kentwood, at 1 p.m. on Monday. She is survived by her husband, Freddie Leslie "Tex" Derrough Jr., Independence; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Davin and Michelle Bates, Independence, and Craig Bates, Pine Grove; two step- daughters, Bridgette Derrough, Houston, and Michelle Newman, Hammond; brother, LaRue Forbes, Baton Rouge; sister, Paulette Spears, Franklinton; grandchildren, Davin Bates, Caleb Bates, Kyle Bates, Kirsten Bates, Haley Bates and Tyler Bates; stepgranddaughter, Brandi Newman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
