Interment was in Metairie Cemetery. She was the former Indiana Dorothea Trapolin and lived in Hammond for many years. She was the eldest daughter of the late Louise R. and John Baptiste Trapolin, sister of Mrs. W. C. Ludowig, Mrs. A. L. Guillot, Mrs. John B. Grossend, Sr., Mrs. Wm. P. O'Toole and John B. Dewhirst, 72, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at his home. He was a native of New Orleans and a retired electrician at Avondale Shipyard. He is survived by two daughters, Carol D. Jacob of Ponchatoula and Trudy D. Fuzette of Metairie; three sons, Harry and Peter Dewhirst, both of Ponchatoula, and Walter Dewhirst of Robertsdale, Ala.; two sisters, Margie D. Grannan of Waveland, Miss., and Anna Dewhirst of New Orleans; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Dell Dewhirst; one daughter, Evelyn Dewhirst; a sister, Thelma D. Walther; and five brothers, Arthur, Harold, Lloyd, Walter and George Dewhirst. Visitation will be Saturday at 11 a.m. All Faiths Funeral Home, New Orleans.
