DIATTE, JOSEPHINE
Josephine "Josie" Diatte, 97 years old of Hammond, LA, died Wednesday,
October 17, 2007 at her residence. She was born on Monday, March 28, 1910
in Hammond. Surviving are daughter, Mary Mercante; 2 daughters & sons-in-
law, Annie and Joseph Giarraputo, Phyllis and Sam Vutera; daughter and her
fiance, JoAnn Bernard and Carl Cabler; sister, Connie Spalitta; 11 grand-
children, Jo A. Johnson, Andrew Mercante, Anthony Mercante, Danny
Giarraputo, Dianne Paczkowski, Sal Vutera Jr., Marty Vutera, Deborah
Wiggins, George Bernard Jr., Jason Bernard and Hunter Bernard; also
survived by 28 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by ; husband;
Anthony "Tony" Diatte, parents; Anna Bona Buzzetta and Andrew Buzzetta,
son-in-law; Henry Mercante, grandson; Frank Mercante, brothers; Joe,
Phillip and Andrew Buzzetta, sisters; Mary Massaro, Tina Cascio, Lilly
Pellichino and Frances Michelli..  Friends will be received Friday, October
19 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church from 9:00a.m. until services.  Mass of
Christian burial will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Friday,
October 19, 2007 at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial
Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana 70401.  Condolences may be e-mailed to:
