She was born on Friday, Sept. 18, 1936, in Ponchatoula. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Dickerson; two daughters, Laurie Morgan and husband Guy, and Lisa Rider; two sons, Raymond White and wife Darlene, and Michael White and wife Lecia; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Meyers and Mary Elizabeth Traylor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Florence Davis Bollin; daughter, Carolyn Barnes; brother, Norman Bollin; and sister, Eloise Bollin. Jessie Barnes will conduct the funeral Saturday at St. Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Tylertown, Miss., at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 10/1/2006 DICKERSON, LUCILLE WARLICK After successfully defeating seven different cancers during her lifetime, Lucille finally succumbed to liver failure at the age of 94 at her daughter's home in Hammond on Thursday evening, Sept. 28, 2006. As Christians, Lucille's family knows that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8. And they rejoice with Lucille now that she is in God's presence and surrounded by the many friends and loved ones who have gone before her. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Starns of Hammond; sister, Peggy Weaver of Crofton, Md.; grandson, David Starns and his wife, Amy, of Hammond; granddaughter, Mindy Starns Clark and Mindy's husband, John, of Norristown, Pa.; grandson, Joseph Starns of Hammond; and five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Starns, both of Hammond, Emily and Lauren Clark, both of Norristown, and Alex Starns of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dickerson; her father and mother, Max and Minerva Warlick; sister, Ola Morris; and brothers, Blanch and Cecil Warlick. Lucille was born July 1, 1912, in Lawndale, N.C., where she spent her childhood years. Her husband, Robert, was a painting contractor during World War II, and the family traveled the United States as he camouflaged military bases and national institutions for the government. After the war, they returned to Coral Gables, Fla., where Robert resumed his painting contracting business. They retired to Hendersonville, N.C., in 1961. After Robert died in 1977, Lucille stayed in North Carolina for 11 more years before moving to Hammond to be near her daughter, Jackie, in 1988, and finally moving in to live with her daughter in 1998. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, for William H. Dickerson, who died suddenly Monday, at the age 75 years. Mr. Dickerson was born September 14, 1872 at Traer, Iowa and spent his boyhood days in Iowa and South Dakota, coming to Ponchatoula early in 1899. In 1900 he married Miss Arthemese Perrin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jules Perrin, and to this union eight children were born, all of whom are living. Besides his widow, he is survived by Lawrence and Ray Dickerson and Mrs. Florence Gault of Detroit; Mrs. Lena Butler of Brookings, South Dakota; Miss Verina Dickerson of Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Frances Powell, Mrs. Hazel Lavigne and Mrs. Wilma Lamp of Ponchatoula and Mrs. Lillian Estabrooke of South Dakota, also by 13 grandchildren.
