Ouida was born on December 4, 1910 in New Orleans. Her parents were George Peter Seiler and Lydia Pfeiffer Seiler. Ouida was graduated from Sophie Newcomb College with a Bachelors Degree in Art. She subsequently taught art at Alabama Women's College before her marriage to Dr. Theodore Joseph Dimitry, also of New Orleans. Dr. and Mrs. Dimitry lived for the majority of their married lives in Hammond, Louisiana, before his death in 1982. She eventually moved to Houston to be near her son, his wife, and her grandchildren. Ouida is survived by her son, Theodore G. Dimitry and his wife, Elizabeth W. Dimitry of Houston, and her grand- children; Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Hyry, her husband, Michael, and three great-grandchildren, William Katie and Elizabeth of Fort Worth, Texas; and her other grandchild, Theodore W. (Ted) Dimitry, and his wife, Susan of Houston. A funeral service in Houston on Thursday afternoon, January 4, 2007, will be followed by graveside services and internment at the Greenlawn Mausoleum in Hammond, Louisiana on Friday afternoon, January 5, 2007 at 4 p.m. The family wishes to acknowledge the services of and to thank, American Hospice and their various caregivers for their careful and considerate services.
