Addison, Ill. - Darryl L. Dobson, 46, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at his home following a long illness. He was a native of Chicago and was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was recently employed as a technician in the electrical field. In his spare time, he performed as a clown and magician for area charity benefits. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kruse, Addison, Ill.; a son, Benjamin Dobson of Hammond; one daughter, Jennifer Dobson of Hammond; one brother, Dewey Dobson Jr. of Hammond; one sister, Debra Dickerson, Ponchatoula; four stepchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Mary Dobson; and two brothers, Dwane and Dwight Dobson. He was 77 and a native of Ellenboro, Wis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Dobson, Baton Rouge, Caroline Dobson and Lee Barber, Zachary, and Mary Margaret Dobson and Richard Collier, Hammond; three sisters, Nelie Dobson Durham, Hammond, Margaret Dobson Bickham, Franklinton, and Hunter Dobson Alessi, Folsom; and five grandchildren, Mary Caroline Dobson, Rayne Elizabeth Barber, Buck Barber IV, Sara Elisabeth Collier and Emma Lanier Collier. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Hunter Dobson; and parents, Hunter and Margaret Dobson. He was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Round Table Club and City Club of Baton Rouge and a board member of the Grief Recovery Center. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University and LSU Law School. He was a lover of music, an avid LSU fan and a devoted father and grandfather.
