She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend whom will be missed dearly. Avis leaves behind her son, Charles Dodd and wife Danyelle; daughter, Diana Dodd Guidry Ross and husband John W., along with her grandchildren, Dana Guidry Patterson and husband Kevin, Lindsey Guidry, Devyn, Bo, Kaylin, Jamie and Jacob Ross, Savannah Hutchinson, Carlie and Steven Dodd; great- grandchildren, Breanna, Samantha and Daniel Patterson. She is also survived by her sisters, Florence Thompson and Myrna Meckly; brother, Tom Wishon and wife Joyce, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Avis in death were her husband, Rubel Dodd; siblings, Robert Wishon, Linda Poole and Nelda Grisham; parents, Charles and Grace Wishon. He was a native of Birllant, Ala., and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his mother, Gladys C. Dodd of Albany; three sisters, Mary Gainey, Sinda Olah and Sherran Rusk, all of Albany; two brothers, Alvin G. Dodd of Chalmette and Jimmy R. Dodd of Picayune, Miss.; one half-brother, A.J. She was a long-time supporter of the Presbyterian Church in Albany. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Gainey and Sinda Olah, both of Albany, and Sharon Rusk of Prairieville; two sons, Jimmy Dodd of Mississippi and Alvin Dodd of Chalmette; a stepdaughter, Bobbie Cattanach of New Mexico; a stepson, Allen Jeffrey Dodd of Arkansas, 28 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman C. Dodd; two daughters, Juanita Dodd and Frieda Harrison; two brothers, Braxton and Rubel Dodd; and four stepsons, Willie, Veno, Lacy and Red Dodd.
