Bernice M. Dohm, born November 2, 1917 passed away with a great deal of fortitude, awareness and acceptance on Nov. 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospice in Halls, Tn. Her passing was an inspiration to those who witnessed it. Bernice M. Dohm was a durable North Dakotan who repeatedly adapted to the need to change and who throughout 92 years recreated her life in the diverse settings of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Washington D.C.; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Havana, Cuba; Bogota,Columbia; Scarsdale, New York; Husser, Louisiana; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Every day for Bernice was a satisfying adventure with no complaints. She took care of the many details of life with grace, skill, and efficiency. Bernice was greatly loved and will be missed by her family very much. Preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Catherine Maiers, brothers Clarence Maier and Raymond Maiers and husband, Christian F. Dohm. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law Carolee Douglas and John Douglas of Albuquerque, NM, and Nancy Morphy and Leroy Morphy of Sydney, Australia, and son and daughter-in-law Bill Dohm and Patty Cooper of Knoxville, Tn. Graveside services will be held on Saturday 11/14 at Rose Memorial Cemetery in Hammond.
