He is survived by his wife, Lavern Dokes of Roseland; one son, Charles Romalis Dokes of Roseland; one daughter, Natosha Dokes of Hammond; one sister, Linda Faye Lane of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Larry Dokes, Michael Jackson, Raymond Jackson and Ronald Jackson, all of Roseland; his father, William H. Johnson of Roseland; five half- sisters and four half-brothers and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Oral Lee Dokes; and his grandparents. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, Amite. The Rev. Larry Lucas will conduct the funeral Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Turner Chapel AME Church, and burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery, Kentwood. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star: 5/9/2004 DOKES, ROBERT Robert Dokes, 47, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at North Oaks Medical Center. A native of Independence, Dokes was a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Lawanika Carr Dokes of Hammond; two daughters, Yoshia Conerly and Mia Carter, both of Hammond; three sons, Jevuria Carr, Marion Carr and Delmarkua Dokes, all of Hammond; four sisters, Lucinda Seaberry of Kenner, Wanda R. Jackson and Adriene Jackson, both of Hammond, and Tondra Jackson of Gaithersburg, Md.; three brothers Ronald, Michael and Timothy Jackson of Hammond; and his father, Isom Jackson of Hammond. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Mae Dokes. Visitation will be Monday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until the Rev. Dr. Samuel Brown conducts the funeral at 11. Burial will be at Holly Gardens Cemetery.
