Following the injury which rendered the little girl unconscious she was rushed to the local emergency hospital and attended by Dr. Travis who after rendering first aid ordered her taken to New Orleans at once. A car was procured and she was taken to Charity hospital where she was pronounced dead by internes (sic) when she arrived. Her mother was prostrated, and physicians were called to attend her. The water toboggan at Ponchatoula Beach is a sort of shoot the chute affair. A high platform is constructed with an incline from the platform to the water which carries small rails. The cars, which are constructed similar to a toboggan, are equiped (sic) with rollers which follow the rails. As the car descends it gathers speed sufficient to cause it to skip over the water a short distance before it settles down and the passengers get their resultant wetting. Two persons, whose names could not be learned, but who were said to have been from New Orleans were on the car as it struck the water and although the man made an effort to pull little Mildred out of the way she was drawn under the toboggan. It is said that the little girl was in bathing along with many others as the day was hot and many were seeking relief in the cool waters of the river. In her joy and play she got too near the path of the toboggan, although it is said she had been warned two or three times, and the car crashed into her, striking her in the head and presumably fracturing the skull. The accident cast a gloom over Ponchatoula and the sympathy of the entire community is with the parents for their irreparable loss Funeral services were held from St. Joseph Catholic church at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the kindness and sympathy shown us in the accident and death of our beloved daughter, Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dominguez And Family Mr. and Mrs. T.
