She passed away peacefully on December 19, 2010 surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Sherrill Doolittle Kearney Creek. On August 19, 1946, Patsy was married to Melvin Francis Doolittle of California at her parents' home in Guthrie, Oklahoma. After the wedding, Patsy and Melvin left for California to begin their life together. After living in Lynwood, California, for 6 months, Patsy and Melvin moved to Loranger, LA in March of 1947 to enter the business of dairy faming with his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Merrill Williamson. To the union of Patsy and Melvin were born three children, Melvin Dale, Sherrill Ann and Nelson Ellis. Patsy was preceded in death by her husband of eleven years, Melvin Francis Doolittle, her parents Sam and Evelyn Taylor, and a brother, Sammy Taylor. She is survived by her two sons, Melvin and his wife, Elaine, Nelson and his wife, Genece, and her one daughter, Sherrill and her husband, Bob; two sisters, Marilyn Cota of California and Linda Probst of Edmond, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Patsy loved flowers and grew up working and helping in her father's greenhouse and florist. In later years, she once again worked as a florist in Hammond, Louisiana and later in Metairie, Louisiana. One of the joys of her life was watching some of her grandchildren become involved in flowers as a florist and in horticulture. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Oak Grove Church of God in Loranger on Tuesday, Dec. 21 after 9 am until the religious service at 11 am. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Church of God Cemetery. Geisler Funeral Home of Hammond in charge of arrangements.
