A resident of Springville, he passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge, at age 61. He was a graduate of Zachary High School, past member of the LSU Marching Band and served in the Army as a sergeant of the rifle range in El Paso, Texas. He retired as a senior technical representative of Simplex Time Recorder Co. with 32 years of service. He was a past Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America Livingston Troop 80. A jack-of-all-trades and master of many, the most quoted statement about Chuck was, "If Chuck can't fix it, it ain't broke." Visitation at Springville Baptist Church on Friday, April 2, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the church Saturday, April 3, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. W. Steven Arledge. Burial in Springville Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 36 years, Angela Zeigler Dorris, of Springville; daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Will Long, of Hammond; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lacie Dorris, of Independence; loving mother, Jean Leonard Dorris, of Zachary; sisters, Dotty Stringfield, Judy Crain and Jan Linton; and two grandsons, Eben and Zane Dorris. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Graveside service at Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary, on Monday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. She is survived by three daughters, Dorothea Stringfield and husband George, of Longview, Texas, Judith Crain, of Denham Springs, and Jan Linton, of Ponchatoula; a brother, Edward Leonard and wife Betty, of Sarepta; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
