A resident of Brusly, he died Saturday, May 23, 2009, due to complications of diabetes. He was 60, a native of Tickfaw and a former resident of Hammond. He was a retired customer service supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service and former member of the Louisiana National Guard. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Monday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 26, from 9 a.m. until religious ceremonies at 11 a.m. Interment in Pompeii Cemetery, Tickfaw. Survived by his wife, Brenda Johnson Dorsa; two daughters, Jodi D. Wooten and husband Karl Sr., of Albany, and Vicki Lynne Dorsa, of Hammond; two sons, Anthony J. Dorsa II and wife Christina, and Matthew J. Dorsa, of Baton Rouge; stepdaughter, Katie Altazan Mayeux and husband Jude, of Bedford, Texas; brother, John Dorsa and wife Josephine, of Kenner; sister, Marie D. Fendlason and husband Bruce, of Tickfaw; six grandchildren, Destini, Karl Jr., Savannah, Abby, Peyton and Jude Daniel; and his buddy boy dachshund, Charlie Brown. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosalie Dorsa, who were of Tickfaw. Immensely proud of his Italian heritage, Tony was an excellent cook and for many years cooked the spaghetti sauce for the St. Joseph's Altar in Tickfaw. He brought his culinary talents to Brusly and made his "macaroni and gravy" and "Italian fig cookies" famous in West Baton Rouge Parish. Tony was an avid LSU fan, so please feel comfortable in wearing your favorite purple and gold attire in honor of his memory to either service.
