Donald was a peaceful man who loved his family and was committed to justice, equality and keeping his community safe. Donald was an active member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, Ponchatoula, La., where he was a member on the Board of Trustees. He was a retired state trooper and member of many organizations which included the Louisiana State Troopers Association, Board of Directors for Jessie Doety Youth Development Center, Nora's House and the NAACP. Donald leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Norma Gean Dotey, two sons; Kenneth Dotey and Ardavion Dotey, daughter and son-in-law Wanda and Morris Evans, Jr., six grandchildren; Marisa Evans, Morris Evans, III, Ryan Dotey, Jeremiah Dotey, BreUnna Dotey, and Kyran Dotey, his mother Elnora James Dotey, one brother and sister-in-law; Larry and Elouise Dotey, four sisters; Deborah Corbin, Dale Allen, Connie Dotey-Lewis (husband, Otis Lewis), and Carolyn Dotey- Ambeau (husband, Louis Ambeau), two Aunts; Betty James and Sherry Hue, and one uncle Monroe James, Jr.(wife Ruby James) one sister-in-law; Pearlie Ducre, five brothers-in-law; Matthew Austin (wife Essie Austin), Earl Austin (wife Myrtle Austin), Cleveland Austin (wife Barbara Austin), Bobby Austin (wife Cynthia Austin) and Julius Austin, two god-children; Heather Lowery and Jonathan Rucker as well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding Donald in death were his father, Jesse Charles Dotey, grandmother, Vera Davis, grandfather , Monroe James, Sr., and two aunts Johnniestean Fox and Annie Triche. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, Ponchatoula on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at First True Love World Outreach Ministries, Ponchatoula, La., at 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mitchell Cemetery, Killian, La. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Adam Grillory of Killian; her father, Junius Ashton of Killian; four daughters, Dienki Fryson, Tawander Solomon and Latoya Ashton, all of Killian, and Koywanda Dotey of Hammond; one son, Kevin Dotey of Ponchatoula; three brothers, Bryant Ashton of Hammond, Jimmie Ashton of Killian and Donald Ashton of New Orleans; and 19 grandchildren. She was preceded her in death by her mother, Alma B. Ashton. Visitation will be at Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Killian from 4 until the Rev.
