ANNA Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Drott, 84, who died Monday at the Wiginton Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday from the Poole Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenlawn cemetery, beside her husband, the late Henry Drott, who died in 1924. Born in Stettin, Germany, she came with her parents to New Orleans at the age of 2. Following her marriage in New Orleans, the family moved to Hammond in 1906, where they lived until 1915 when they moved to St. Joseph, Mich. Returning to Hammond in 1924, she remained here until her death. She is survived by three son, Walter and Albert Drott of Hammond, and Ed Drott of Ponchatoula; three daughters, Mrs. Ellis Robertson and Mrs. Eldridge Poole of Hammond, and Mrs. Price Dodson of Honduras; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. *************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge) on: 3/16/2012 DROTT, ESMOND EUGENE Esmond Eugene Drott, 80, passed away surrounded by his adoring family and friends midday, Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Esmond was a man of many talents; he could fix most anything. He was greatly loved and cherished by all who met him. Esmond was born in Hammond, LA on April 10, 1931. He graduated with his Bachelors from Southeastern Louisiana University and then went on to receive his Masters and PhD from Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers! He was an active community member in Dickinson, TX and Pensacola, FL. His support of Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, PTA, Dickinson Library Association and Monsanto Golf Club were just a few of Esmond's community involvements. Esmond was employed by Monsanto Company for a total of 40 years in Texas City, TX and Pensacola, FL. Additionally, he was an adjunct professor at Pensacola Junior College. Among many of his great accomplishments, he was recognized worldwide for developments in polymer characterization, and he was a Professional Member of American Chemical Society, Instrument Society of America and Society of Plastics Engineers. Esmond was a man of faith and an active member of Nativity Catholic Church. He served as a member of Knights of Columbus Council 8450 and Serra Club. "Paw-Paw Es," as he was affectionately known by his family, loved to travel, golf, play bridge and research family history. Preceded in death by his parents, Albert Eugene Drott and Beulah Robertson Drott of Hammond, LA. A devoted family man, Esmond Drott is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Drott; children, Cary Drott (Nancy) of Houston, TX, Julie Drott of Charlotte, NC, Susan Arent (Stacy) of Houston, TX and Kristi Wendik (Nils) of Atlanta, GA. Also, grandchildren, Emily Piersol (Brien), Ellen Drott, Lauren Mathis, Morgan Bailey (David), Mallory Carroll (John), Matthew Thompson (Christina), Michael Thompson, Makenzie Arent, Anna Wendik and Lena Wendik; brother, Henry Drott (Mary Jane) of Philadelphia, PA. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Friday, March 16, 2012 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Interment committal services will take place at 10:00am Monday, March 19, 2012 at Chenal Cemetery in Jarreau, Louisiana. Mr. Drott was well know in the community and for years operated a dairy east of Ponchatoula on the Sisters road. He was born May 10, 1832 and was married twenty years ago to Miss Adele Bendix, who with one daughter, Mrs. Vernon King, and one son, Otto, Jr., survive. He is also survived by his mother, three sisters and seven brothers. Interment was made in Wetmore cemetery. Rev. Bookter and Rev. Borriak officiating.
