She was 71, a resident of Hammond and a native of Ponchatoula. She was co-owner of Pon Food Corp. until her retirement in January 2003. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 2300 Rue Denise, Hammond, from 1 p.m. until religious service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2003, conducted by the Rev. Jean Foreman. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. Survived by her husband, Doug DuBois, Hammond; two sons, Tony Berner Jr. and Michael Berner, both of Ponchatoula; three grandchildren and a great-grandson. Preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Ila Linton Gill; three brothers, Ellis Gill, Murphy Gill and Myles Gill; and two sisters, Lorraine Peltier and Agnes Harris. She was a past queen of the Krewe of Omega and was active in civic affairs. She was especially proud of her affiliation with Southeastern Louisiana University, Fanfare and the Columbia Theatre, where she and her husband, Doug DuBois, were major donors. Mrs. DuBois was an active member of the Oak Knoll Country Club Ladies Golf Association and was active in the LGA of the Wentworth Country Club in Jackson, N.H. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Hammond. Mrs. DuBois was the matriarch of the Gill family in Ponchatoula, where her family played prominent roles in the early development of Ponchatoula. ***************************************************************************
