A native of Simmsport, he is survived by his wife, Joanny Ducote; one daughter, Monique Ducote Penfield; one son, Bert Anthony Ducote II; a step-son, Albert Roman; three sisters, Jaqueline Rabalais of Simmsport, Geraldine Stephens of Baton Rouge, and Delphine Nelson of Slaughter; eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallet and Eugenia Ducote; two brothers, Harry C. Ducote and Clyde Joseph Ducote; one sister, Elaine D. Brown. Visitation will be today at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon conducted by the Rev. Frank Bass. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie Katie (Catherine) Vicknair Ducote. Father of Robert Ducote and wife Terri, William Ducote and wife Rebecca, David Ducote and wife Debra. Grandfather of Jennifer, Ashely, Matthew, Andrew, Jeffrey, Jacob, and Dylan. Great Grandfather of Alex, Grace and Brennan. Son of the late Resaire Ducote and Winnie Mayeux Ducote. Brother of Doris Ducote Corcoran and the late Riley Ducote Sr., Cecile Ducote Dauterive and Joseph Ducote. A native of Cottonport, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA for 41 years. Recently relocated to Ponchatoula, LA where he greatly enjoyed his last three months. Retired from I.B.E.W. Local 130 which he joined in 1966. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the St. Peter Cemetery, 1550 Highway 44, Reserve, Louisiana. She was a native and resident of Robert, Louisiana. Mrs. Ducote was born on Wednesday, August 18, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of Marjorie Carter Mackles and the late Emanual Mackles. Mrs. Ducote is survived by her husband, John Ducote; 2 daughters, Gina Culotta Eastman, and Kelly Ducote Rowland; son, Shannon Ducote; 2 sons-in-law, James Eastman and Frank Rowland; 5 grandchildren, Cain, Caleb, Corrie, Darci, and Eliska; brother, Garry Mackles; 3 sisters, Louise, Cathy, and Sylvia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Soulier, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Brouscato. Visitation is scheduled on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., and on Wednesday, after 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 330 West Pine Street, Ponchatoula.
