A longtime resident of Kentwood and native of Alexandria, Arthur G. Dufour died in February 2010. He was born Oct. 24, 1926. He was a Navy veteran and is survived by nine children and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Carolyn Dufour. He was born March 11, 1939 in New Orleans and was a long time resident of Hammond before re-locating to Covington in 2009. The beloved husband of Melissa Sexton Dufour, he is survived by three sons: Harold C. Dufour, Jr. (Jennifer), Mark Dufour (Charlotte) and Chris Dufour (Karen); two daughters, Danielle Daigle (Rene') and Barbara Wright (David); his step- son, Matt Huddleston (Missy) and 10 grandchildren: Dillon and Emma Huddleston, Tyler and Jacob Wright, Rene, Jordan and Gabriel Daigle, Mallorie and Thomas Dufour and Emily Dufour. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Pearl Gauthier Dufour and sister, Kathleen Dufour DeSilva. Mr. Dufour was not only a well respected business man in Tangipahoa Parish as the Gulf Oil jobber, but was an involved community member as well. He was a supporter of Southeastern Louisiana University, having graduated from there in 1962 with a BachelorÕs degree in economics and then was chosen as president of the Alumni Association in 1983. He served on the Board of the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation and was a member of the Hammond Rotary Club. He was a North Oaks Health System Volunteer, an AARP Tax Assistance Volunteer and also gave his time to Civitan. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70471. Dufour, Jo went to be with our Lord on Saturday evening, June 2, 2007, at her home, west of Kentwood, surrounded by her devoted family. Born Feb. 10, 1932, in Baton Rouge, she was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Jo was the owner and operator of Joor Road Exxon from 1977 to 1981 and Paradise Fans from 1982 to 1986. She worked in advertising for the Amite Tangi Digest and Tangi Connection Magazine from 2004 to 2006. She was a native of Kentwood and resident of Hammond. Mrs. DuFour was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, Fern Leaf Chapter No. 24, of Hammond, and a retired employee of Rosenblum's Department Store. She had also worked as a teacher's aide with the Tangipahoa Parish school system. Survivors include a daughter, LaRue Gaude and her husband, Richard; a son, Dennis Van Raborn and his wife, Allison; stepson, Bobby Ray Raborn and his wife, Faye; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a brother, William L. Van. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace C. "Pete" Raborn; a sister, Patty LaRue Monson; and a brother, Joseph Van Jr.; as well as her parents, Joseph and Lena Spears Van.
