He was born Wednesday, February 1, 1933, in Norphlet, Arkansas, son of the late Charles B. and Ida Lee Strange Dumas. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dumas was also the Financial Officer for the American Legion Post 109 in Independence. He was a member of Masonic Triumph Lodge #422 of Buras, La. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Barbara Hamby Dumas and two sons, Dennis, and Darrell Dumas; six grandchildren, Kelly, Bryan, Andrew, Aaron, Rory, and Lindsay Dumas; two brothers, Thurman and Allen Dumas; and one sister, Katherine Byers. He was preceded in death by his son, Bonnie Dumas Jr. Friends will be received Friday, January 5, 2007 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Services will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mitch Williams officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Independence, P.
