He was a lifelong resident of Tickfaw and a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church. An avid deer hunter, he also enjoyed farming and watching flowers grow, especially the hibiscus plant when it was in bloom. Roy was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. At the time of his death, Roy was enjoying Mother's Day with his beloved wife of 60 years, Joyce Harper Dunnington. He leaves behind three devoted daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy and Jeff Schneider, of Ponchatoula, Joan and Ron Smith, of Tickfaw, and Kay Dunnington Boos, of Tickfaw; loving grandchildren, Chris Smith, Kyle Smith and his wife, Ashley, and Robert Boos; great-granddaughter, Savannah Smith; and great-grandson, Levi Smith.
