She was a longtime resident of Ponchatoula before moving to Hammond. DeeDee had a gentle spirit and will be missed dearly. DeeDee leaves behind her sisters, Cecile Lea, Judy Monistere and husband Nat, Mary Wall & husband Glenn, Katherine Juhasz and husband Joe, Norma Williams and husband Kenneth; brothers, Alfaro "Joe" Duplessis, Jr. and Glenn "Tap" Duplessis, as well as, her many loving nieces, nephews and extended family, whom she loved and cared for dearly. Preceding DeeDee in death were her parents, Alfaro and Rita Alphonso Duplessis; brother, Phillip Duplessis; nephew, Ignatius "Mitch" Monistere. She was born on April 11, 1938, in New Orleans, daughter of the late Troy Luke and Alice Cecile Decoteau Duplessis. She was a retired purser from Lykes Brothers Steamship Co. Surviving are her four sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Ourso, Joan Duplessis, Mrs. Dillion (Ann) Prine and Mrs. Willie (Lois) Freeman; brother, Troy Luke Duplessis Jr.; dear friend, Sheila Murphy; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many cousins. He was a native of Gonzales and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of St. Joseph Usher Society and worked as a machinist for Kaiser Aluminum. He is survived by his wife, Enola Martin Duplessis of Paulina; three daughters, Patricia Vicknair of Prairieville, Elaine Landry of Ponchatoula, and Brenda Louque of Grand Point; one sister, Doris Braud of Gramercy; two brothers, Holden "Pip" and Harvey Duplessis, both of Gonzales; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sedorise and Martine Braud Duplessis; two sisters, Velma Duplessis and Selma Bercegay; and one infant brother, Elgin Duplessis. Visitation will be Tuesday at the Knights of Columbus Home, Lutcher, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Frank Uter will conduct the funeral at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, at 10. She was the beloved wife for 54 years to the late Eldred "Dupe" Duplessis. She is survived by three daughters, Pat and her husband Byron Vicknair of Prairieville, Brenda and her husband Randy Louque of Paulina, and Elaine and the late Donald "Blackie" Landry of Ponchatoula. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Angela Louque Evans (husband Andrew), Leigh Louque, Kimberly Landry Coates (husband Steve), Kelly Landry, and Jason Vicknair, five great-grandchildren Storm, Quade, and Jazzmin Coates, Kali Lowery, Tytus Brumley, two sisters Edna Melancon and Lucille Babin and sister-in-law Doris Braud. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Annette Martin, sisters Hilda Waguespack, Irene Leblanc, Ethel LeBlanc. And brother Nichol Martin. Enola was a member of the Altar Society of Paulina. Her beautiful smile touched many lives and she will be deeply missed by everyone.
