Ralph Durand, Sr., 68, long-time resident of Hammond, succumbed in Lallie Kemp Hospital, Independence, Monday, September 6. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 7; interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond. He was born in New Orleans, August 17, 1886. He was married to Mollie Dykes in 1906 and came to Hammond in 1926. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna Braud of Hammond, and Mrs. Carrie Flair of New Orleans; three sons, Ralph J. Durand, II of New Orleans, and Henry E. and Galon L. Durand of Hammond; one brother, Edwin Durand of Hammond; one granddaughter, Mrs. Lillian Jones who resided in the same house he lived in, and 18 other grandchildren; 16 great, grandchildren. She died Saturday, November 29, 1980, in New Orleans after a lengthy illness.
