Easley Jr. of Greensburg, for more than 34 years. She retired in 1999 as the director of the Public Health Unit in St. Helena Parish. She had served unselfishly as a registered nurse for 45 years. Born in Oakland, Calif., on Nov. 7, 1933, she was raised in Lyons, Colo., and Meridian, Idaho. She graduated from Kaiser Permanente School of Nursing in Oakland on Aug. 28, 1954. Ms. Susie enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and her beloved family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Elna McConnell and Opal Elizabeth Conklin McConnell, who were of Meridian; a toddler sister, Donna, who was of Lyons; her first husband, Peter Juan Flores; and an infant son, Mitchell Ryan, who were of Denham Springs. She is survived by a loving family that includes her husband, Morris E. Mrs. Easley was preceded in death by her husband, Fleet J. Easley during his second term as mayor of Amite City. Mrs. Mildred Easley served as interim mayor after Mr. Fleet's death in 1984. Mr. and Mrs. Easley are preceded in death by their only child, Evelyn Kathleen Easley in 1968 as the result of an automobile accident. Mrs. Easley was born in Chesbrough on Aug. 6, 1921, to parents George Albert and Bettie Hart Brooks. She grew up in Tangipahoa, graduated from Kentwood High School and Soule Business College in New Orleans. Mrs. Easley served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in Pensacola and Whiting Field. Following the war, she worked at Gullett Cotton Gin in Amite City, where she met and married Fleet who was also a Gullet employee. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Amite. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easley was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Laura Reed, Beverly LeTard and Helen Sue Gates; and brother, Richard Brooks.
