Funeral services for Albion C. Eastman, who passed away at Illinois Central Hospital in New Orleans on Friday, were held Sunday from Thomas Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hammond. Two sons-in-law, Ralph Moffett of Mansfield and Gordon Hase of Moss Point, Miss.; and two nephews, Fred and Claude Eastman of Loranger; w. C. Blomquist and Dr. E. E. Puls of Hammond served as pallbearers. He was born near Sangar, N.Dak. on September 21, 1884; the family moved to Hammond in 1888. On June 26, 1912 he married Miss Adelaide Reussien of Empire. To this union four sons and three daughters were born; they lived at Belzoni. He is survived by his widow, seven children and eight grandchildren; two sisters, Misses Annie and Zelpha Eastmann of Hammond; and a number of nieces and nephews. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 1/3/2003 EASTMAN, ELMER A. Elmer A. Eastman, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Belle Maison Nursing Home, Ponchatoula. He was a native of Empire. He is survived by three sisters, Earleen Hall of Flora, Miss., Editha Moffitt of Mansfield and Ethel Hase of Mobile, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abion and Adelaide R. Eastman; and three brothers, Urbin, Samuel and Merrill Eastman. Visitation will be Saturday at Geisler Funeral Home, Hammond, from 3 p.m. until the funeral at 4. ********************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Vindicator: 9/14/1951 EASTMAN, FRED A. Last rites for Fred A. Eastman, 80, who died September 5, were held Friday, September 7, from the Thomas Funeral Home. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery. He was born at Fort Fairfield, Maine on December 21, 1870. While still a young man, his parents moved to Minnesota and later to the Dakotas. He moved to Hammond in September 1888. He volunteered for service with Company H, Louisiana Volunteers, during the Spanish-American War. After he mustered out he returned to Litchfield, Minn., where he engaged in business with his uncle, E. M. Eastman; later settling in White Rock, S.Dak. where he lived until he retired in 1943 and returned to Hammond. He was a member of the Methodist church. He is survived by one brother, A. C. Eastman of Belzoni, Miss.; two sisters, Misses Annie and Zylpha Eastman of Hammond; and a large number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. ********************************************************************************* Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 3/4/2007 EASTMAN, GRACE SHELTON Grace Shelton Eastman, 92, died Friday at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond. She was 92, a native of Hammond and resident of Loranger. Surviving her are two sons, Fred Estman Jr. of Tickfaw and Jim Eastman of Loranger; one sister, Lura Cooper of Robert; one brother, Leo Shelton of Hammond; two grandchildren, Jimmy Eastman of Loranger and Valerie Adams of Hammond; and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Fred Eastman Sr.; daughter, Joyce Eastman; one brother, Everette Shelton; three sisters, Thelma Joiner, Dona Vinyard and Dale Shelton. Visitation will be at Geisler Funeral Home in Hammond today from 6 to 9 p.m., continuing on Monday starting at 8 a.m. until the religious service scheduled for 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Joiner Cemetery in Loranger.
