EBRECHT, ELSIE MERRITT 
A school teacher for more than 40 years and a resident of Hammond, she died 
Friday, March 29, 2002, at her home. She was 91 and a native of Washington 
Parish. Memorial services at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, at 
1 p.m. Tuesday, with visitation following until 3 p.m. Survived by three 
nephews, Leonard Moreland, Robert Merritt and Charles Merritt; two nieces, 
Martha Ebrecht and Ann Ebrecht; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. 
Preceded in death by her husband, Peter John Ebrecht Jr. She was an alumna of 
Southeastern Louisiana University. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may 
be made to North Oaks Hospice, P.O. Box 2668, Hammond, LA 70401.

EBRECHT, JOSEPH EARL 
Founder of Ponchatoula Feed and Seed and a longtime resident of Ponchatoula, he 
died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was 90 
and a native of New Orleans. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 
Ponchatoula, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday. Religious services at St. 
Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by a 
Dominican priest. Interment in Ponchatoula Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, 
Ann B. Ebrecht, Narberth, Pa., and Martha J. Ebrecht, Ponchatoula; and five 
grandchildren, Peter, Philip and Erin Derbins and Julia and Conor McCarthy. 
Preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Littleton Ebrecht; a brother, Peter 
Ebrecht Jr.; and a sister, Olga Ebrecht Ullrich. Memorial donations may be made 
to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department.

A homemaker and a resident of Ponchatoula, she died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at 
North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. She was 85 and native of Choudrant. Visiting 
at First Presbyterian Church, Ponchatoula, 1 p.m. until religious services at 
3 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Jim Anderson. Interment in Ponchatoula 
Cemetery. Survived by husband, Joseph E. Ebrecht, Ponchatoula; two daughters, 
Ann Ebrecht, Philadelphia, and Martha Ebrecht, Ponchatoula; and five grand-
children. Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Annabell Davis Littleton; 
two brothers, the Rev. R.D. Littleton and J.W. Littleton. Harry McKneely & Son 
Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, in charge of arrangements.
