She was born on Sunday, March 23, 1930 in San Diego, California, daughter of the late Wayne and Grace Sheppley Dillman. Mrs. Edler was a loving mother, dedicated wife and friend. Surviving are 4 daughters, Dorothy Basham, Sherry Halton, Lauana Craig, Darlene White; 2 sons, Michael Dominguez, John Schafer; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Orlyn L. Edler. Friends will be received Thursday, July 3, 2008, from 6:00 pm until the memorial service begins at 7:30 pm at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Interment will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery at a later date. He was a native of Ohio, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Dillman Edler of Holden; four daughters, Lauana Craig of Maryland, Darlene White of San Diego, Dorothy Basham of Holden and Sherry Halton of Pumpkin Center; two sons, Michael Dominquez of Maryland and John Schafer of Baton Rouge; four brothers, Roy, Roger, Gary and Lonnie Edler, all of Ohio; one sister, Louise Prater of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lurana Higgins Edler; and one brother, Harry Edler.
