EDWARDS-SIMS, BRENDA 
Brenda Edwards-Sims, 37, died Friday, May 25, 2001, in Mississippi. She was a 
native of Independence and was employed as a cook. She is survived by her 
husband, J.P. Edwards; three daughters, Shandrika Wilson of Hammond, Lekiesha 
Smith and Marquita Sims, both of Jackson, Miss.; one son, Robert Earl Smith of 
Jackson, Miss.; four sisters, Sandra Smith, Maeola Smith and Tiffany Smith, all 
of Hammond, and Natasha Wilson of Dallas; three brothers, Leon Smith Jr. of 
Baton Rouge, William C. Smith and Terry D. Smith, both of Hammond; her mother, 
Olevia Pines of Hammond; her father, Leon Smith; and 10 grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by three sons, Ryan Dewayne Smith, Mike Antonio Smith and Ike 
Antonio Smith. The Rev. Albert Carter conducted the funeral Monday, and burial 
was in Holly Gardens Cemetery, Hammond. Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, was 
in charge.
