BARBARA CORKERN EIDELL 
San Francisco - Barbara Corkern Eidell, 81, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her 
home. She was born in New Orleans. She joined the first class of WAVE officers 
in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and achieved the rank of lieutenant, senior grade. In 
the 1950s and '60s, she was active in Republican Party politics in California. 
She is survived by one daughter, Victoria Johnston of San Francisco; one son, 
Gary Eidell of Barnard, Vermont; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death 
by her husband, Jack Eidell; and her parents, Walter Monroe and Leah Victoria 
Watson Sauls Corkern. Services and Burial will be held in Nashville, Tenn. 
Memorial donations in her name may be made to: The Woodside Priory Scholarship 
Fund, 302 Portola Road, Portola Valley, Calif. 94028.
