ERNEST, ZILDA DUPLESSIS 
Mrs. Zilda Duplessis Ernest, 89 years old and a resident of Ponchatoula,
died Friday, May 11, 2007, at her daughter's home. She was born Thursday,
March 14, 1918, in Duplessis, daughter of the late Alexander and Edna
Henderson Duplessis. Surviving are her three daughters, Glenda E. Dufreche
and her husband, Bill Dufreche, Barbara Ann Ernest and Elna Ernest Bowman;
son, Ellis Ernest and his wife, Mary Ann M. Ernest; seven grandchildren,
Belinda Candies, Lynn Candies, Michelle Ernest, Dianne Ernest, Derrin
Ernest, Steven Ernest and his wife, Ladonna Ernest, and Thasia Ernest;
eight great-grandchildren, Brandy Oliphant and her husband, B.J. Oliphant,
Joshua Ernest, Sebastian Candies, Ariel Candies, Danielle Vidrine, Maranda
Ernest, Madison Ernest and Alexandra Ernest; great-great-granddaughter,
Haley Oliphant; sister, Henrietta D. Joiner; and her brother, Lawrence P.
Duplessis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Ernest Sr.; son,
Oscar "Ottie" Ernest Jr.; two sisters, Edith D. Mercier and Flavia D.
Morse; and five brothers, Alton, Alter, Troy, Alfaro and Wickliffe
Duplessis. Friends will be received Monday, May 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
and on Tuesday, May 15, from 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Harry McKneely &
Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Religious service will be held at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, on Tuesday, May 15, at 10:30 a.m.,
with the Rev. Justin R. Kauchak, O.P., officiating. Interment will follow
