Matt Leander Fairley Sr., 57, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Julia Broadway Fairley; two daughters, Valeria and Pamela Fairley, Hammond; two sons, Matt Fairley Jr., Independence, Marco Fairley, Hammond; three sisters, Cora Armstrong, Hammond, Mary Dudley, Ponchatoula, Patricia Dykes, Atlanta; and four brothers, Laverne Fairley, Hattiesburg, Miss., David Fairley, Hereford, Ariz., Henry Fairley, Detroit, George Fairley, Hammond. His father, LeRoy Fairley Sr.; mother, Daisy Fairley-Sims; and brother, LeRoy Fairley Jr., preceded him in death. Visitation will be at N.A. James Funeral Home, Hammond, Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. The funeral will be held at Church of the Living God, Hammond, at 8 p.m. Dismissal will be Friday at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Holly Gardens. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Hammond Daily Star on: 9/19/2002 FAIRLEY, VERNIA McComb, Miss. - Vernia Fairley, 44, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at Southwest Regional Hospital, McComb, Miss. She was a native of New Orleans. She is survived by three sons, Joseph L. and Mickale A. Fairley, both of Wiggins, Miss., and Terrell A. Fairley of McComb; one foster son, Clifton Fairley of McComb; six sisters, Debra Fairley of McComb, Josephine McCann of Leaksville, Miss., Dorothy Fairley of Gulfport, Miss., Patricia Kennedy and Sarah Jeanpierre, both of Hammond, and Diane Allen of North Carolina; four brothers, Clifton Fairley of Baton Rouge, Wayattdale Fairley of New Orleans, Kenneth Hayes of Round Rock, Texas, and Herman Collins of Hammond; her stepmother, Birdie Fairley of New Orleans; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anguish E. Fairley and Alma Johnson; one brother, Anguish Fairley Jr.; and her grandparents, Norman and Jamesetta Fairley and Aaron and Doretha Kimble. Visitation will be Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, Hammond, from 5 p.m. until the Rev. Speady Ross conducts the funeral at 7:30.
