Robert and Irene Dunaway Whitehead. ******************************************************************************** Obituary published in The Advocate (Baton Rouge): 7/13/2004 FALLER, CHARLES LOKEY Charles Lokey Faller, a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, after a brief illness. He was 89 and a resident of Hammond for more than 58 years. Mr. Faller was born in Tickfaw on Aug. 28, 1914, and was the son of the late George Cornelius Faller and Emma Settoon Faller. He attended Hammond High School, Independence High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, where he played on the Lions' first undefeated football team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having received both a Certificate of Commendation and a Purple Heart for his service during World War II. Mr. Faller was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hammond, where he served in numerous capacities for almost 60 years. He was also a volunteer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Hammond from the time it opened until shortly before his death. Mr. Faller is survived by his daughter, Jill Faller Williams and husband Jack of Mandeville; son, John Lokey "Jack" Faller and wife Kristen of Denham Springs; brother, Robert "Bob" Faller of Bastrop; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha Floyd Faller, his beloved wife of 57 years, preceded him in death as did his parents and eight siblings. A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Faller will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Hammond. He was born September 3, 1921. He was a member of the First Church of God, Bastrop, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a 32nd degree Mason holding membership at Oak Ridge Masonic Lodge, and was a past Master of the Independence Masonic Lodge. Born August 13, 1915, in Cottonport, Louisiana, she was 92 years of age and was a sixty year resident of Ponchatoula. She served as a Red Cross volunteer in England during World War II and worked until retirement for the United States Department of Agriculture in Hammond. She also devoted years of service as a volunteer with North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. After retirement, she enjoyed world travel, visiting more than 30 countries in her lifetime. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest Baldwin Coco and Carmen Ducote Coco, her beloved husband, Marvin Arnold Faller, and son, Marvin Arnold Faller, Jr., and a sister, Lessie Coco Davis. Survivors include one son, William Norman Faller and his wife, Charlotte, of Ponchatoula, a daughter, Gaye Faller Randolph and her husband, Augustus, of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, a step-daughter, Carolyn Faller Cornelius and her husband, Russell, of Metairie, and a sister, Sylvia Coco Casbergue, of New Orleans. Also surviving her are six grandchildren, Melysa Faller Vaughan, Allison Cornelius Alleva, William Forrest Faller, Roger Martin Cornelius, Cecily Cornelius-White, and Natasha Faller Balette. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
